By Jeanie Corral TH News Editor Check this out at http://www.moveoveramerica.com/ Called the "Move over" law that became operative on January 1, 2010 in California, several people have emailed this link to the Tuscany Hills newspaper asking if it is "for real." According to the internet website, it is indeed real and has now been adopted everywhere except in Washington, D.C., and the states of Maryland and Hawaii. According to one internet posting, the cost of a ticket for failing to observe this new law was $754, a mandatory court appearance and points that could affect renewing and maintaining a driver's license. The law in a nutshell says if any emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, drivers must move into the far lane, and if it is not possible to move into the far lane, the speed for passing the stopped vehicle cannot exceed 20 mph.Ê |
