Tuscany Hills residents are invited to attend the 9th annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast that will be held on Thursday, April 1 at Lakeside High School Lancer cafeteria, 32953 Riverside Drive. The doors open at 7 a.m. for the breakfast, that yearly is prepared for those attending by the school's culinary arts students.
Tuscany resident Melissa Melendez, the current mayor will be recognized.
The theme this year is "For Such A Time As This" and will, as in the past, feature inspirational music, readings from scripture, prayer and a motivational message.
The event is patterned on the National Day of Prayer Breakfast model held usually the first week of May. However, the local organizers have opted in the past several years to hold their eventÊto correspond with the annual spring break taken by the local schools.
Lakeside High School counselor Valerie Northington-Geason will be the event's featured singer.
The event, open to all people of faith, features tables of seven for the cost of $120, or individual tickets at $20.
Sponsorships can be had for $200 and in the past several years, between 250 and 300 have attended the morning breakfast that asks for divine direction and guidance over the community, its leaders, its homes and its citizens
Keynote speaker for this year will be the eminent Dr. Vick Knight, Jr., well known community leader and author.
A former trustee of the local school district and currently on the Riverside County Board of Education, Dr. Knight will share his own special insights of how his faith directs his living and why that is important.
Organizers notes the networking that goes on during the breakfast has a great impact on all those who attend and urge families to participate along with civic and business leaders.
"Imagine the impact made in our community as we pray for and with each other," says pastor Jack Warford, one of the committee members.
