"This position will allow me the opportunity to work with officials from various areas of the state on plans that effectively manage one of our most important resources Ð water." "I will use this position to educate residents and stakeholders on the changing water issues in Southern California and throughout the state," said Wicke. Wicke has served on EVMWD's Board of Directors since 1994 when he succeeded Charles Bryant. Re-elected to the Board in 2006 to a four-year term, he also serves on the District's Engineering and Operations Committee, and attends regular meetings with the Eastern Municipal Water District and Western Municipal Water District Water Supply Task Force. Wicke has also been on the Meeks and Daley Water board of directors since 1995 and President since 2001. He also serves as a member of the Quail Valley Task Force and the Canyon Lake Water Subcommittee. As the Region 9 Chairman, Wicke will also continue to serve on the ACWA Board of Directors in Sacramento. "Region leadership is important to the success of the Association," said Paul Kelley, ACWA President. "I look forward to continuing to work with Director Wicke on the issues important to Region 9 and the state." ACWA Region 9's primary goals are to provide a structure for agencies to meet and discuss water issues, provide the local outreach organization (grassroots support) necessary to advance ACWA's legislative and regulatory priorities, and provide a forum to educate region members on ACWA's priorities and issues of local and statewide concern. Water district programs As part of its ongoing educations programs, the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District is offering water education programs free at several school sites. The "Zunzun Tunes" theater program will be at Tuscany Hills ElementaryÊon Friday, March 5 starting at 12:15 and again at 2:05 p.m. On Wednesday, March 10 the program will be conducted at Cottonwood Canyon Elementary at 12:45Ê and 1:30 p.m. Tuscany Hills residents can attend the programs or go to www.zunzuntunes.com/links.php or call 674-3146, ext. 8274 for additional information. Water Festival planned On Saturday, April 24, the 8th annual Community Water Conservation Festival will be held at the Diamond Valley Lake Visitor Center, 2325 Searl Parkway in nearby Hemet. This full day event is free and offers activities for children, and demonstrations on drip irrigation, landscape technology, artificial turf information, pollution preventions demonstrations, and several free drawings and giveaways.
